Bonnie's Boutique started at a kitchen table with a roll of copper wire and a simple idea: jewelry should be honest about what it's made of.

Too much of what's sold online is a thin layer of shine over cheap metal that turns your skin green and falls apart within a season. I wanted the opposite: solid copper, finished by hand, made to be worn every single day.

Each piece is shaped one at a time, so there are only so many I can make. When a design sells out, it can take weeks before it's back.

96 Years, and She Never Took It Off.

My mother wore the same copper band from her wedding day until the week she turned 96.

She gardened in it, baked bread in it, swam in the lake in it. When I asked why she never took it off, she just smiled: "Because it's part of my morning."

For years I thought it was only a habit. Then I saw how much that small ritual meant to her, and how it tied her to her own mother and grandmother.
